Bichon Frise
Character
This fluffy, child-friendly dog is a true family pet. A Bichon Frise is playful and intelligent, yet also affectionate and sensitive. It's the perfect dog for keeping things tidy at home and welcoming visitors. Bichons get along well with other dogs and even cats. They're not guardian dogs, but they are incredibly warm companions, both literally and figuratively. They adapt easily to changing circumstances. Therefore, they will behave differently with an elderly couple than with a young family with small children.
Appearance
With its round, dark eyes, small nose, and floppy ears, the Bichon Frise captures the hearts of young and old. This small dog stands about 30 cm tall at the shoulder. It weighs about 4 kg but can weigh up to 7 kg depending on the weather. Bichons have long, white, curly (frisé) hair. So, it's best to regularly take them on your lap to brush their fur. This is not only a pleasant bonding experience but also ensures a radiant coat. Over time, they can develop characteristic brown tear stains around their eyes. Fortunately, there are special lotions that are very effective.
Other details
A Bichon Frise is very well-suited for apartment living. This dog has no undercoat and therefore doesn't shed. So you don't have to chase them around with the vacuum cleaner all day. This also makes them ideal dogs for people with allergies. These lovely dogs live an average of 13 to 14 years.
