Cane Corso
Character
The Italian Cane Corso is a loyal companion for hunters and farmers, who admire it for its power, courage, and speed. These even-tempered dogs are hard workers with a protective nature. They get along well with children but are wary of strangers until their owner confirms it's okay. They can live peacefully with cats and other dogs. However, caution is advised with small pets due to the Cane Corso's hunting instinct. These fearless dogs can bark vigorously, but only when necessary. With proper training, they make wonderful family pets.
Appearance
Cane Corsos have a powerful and sturdy appearance. They have a short, smooth coat that feels coarse. Common coat colors include black, blue, and various shades of yellow and red. Males can reach a shoulder height of 64 to 68 cm, and females 60 to 64 cm. Males weigh around 45 to 50 kg, and females around 40 to 45 kg.
Other details
This dedicated family protector loves hard work and is still used by farmers and hunters today. It sheds only lightly, so an occasional brushing or combing should suffice. The Cane Corso needs plenty of space to run, as it is originally a hunter of large game, such as wild boar. It can live for 9 to 12 years.
