Pomeranian
Character
A Pomeranian is also known as a " Pomeranian ," referring to the German region of Pomerania. This small, sweet companion dog is extremely popular. It gets along well with children and other pets. This cheerful four-legged friend is a smart, playful companion. It is courageous and will always try to protect you. In the company of larger dogs, it can even become a bit overconfident. These dogs have a huge personality. While they are anything but shy, they are certainly not aggressive. However, they can sometimes be mischievous. These sweethearts also have a highly developed intuition and enormous empathy for people. This makes them ideal as therapy dogs.
Appearance
The Pomeranian's dark, endearing almond-shaped eyes will captivate you from the very first glance. With their fluffy undercoat and long outer coat, they're the ultimate cuddle buddy. They come in various shades and colors: white, cream, red, brown, and even black. The Pomeranian measures between 25 and 38 cm. It has a relatively short back but a steep rear.
Other details
They may be small, but Pomeranians have a surprisingly loud bark. This makes them excellent watchdogs. They are very amenable to obedience training and therefore easy to train. A Pomeranian is also agile and nimble, so they enjoy learning tricks. They are happiest when they feel fully part of the family and can participate in family activities. Enjoying a nice walk together, playing ball, or playing with a rope or frisbee are their favorite activities. If you ignore a Pomeranian, they will become bored and may get into mischief. However, they are perfectly fine in an apartment, as long as they have enough to do. Daily brushing is recommended, but clipping their coat before the summer is strongly discouraged. This will cause them to lose their natural protection against the heat. A Pomeranian should only be bathed when absolutely necessary. An average 'Pom' or 'Pommetje' weighs about 3.5 kg and lives for about 13 to 14 years.
