Golden Retriever
Character
The Golden Retriever originated in England and is perhaps one of the best-known and most typical family dogs. It is known for its friendly, sociable, and balanced temperament. Retrievers are good-natured, easygoing, and not at all aggressive. These gentle dogs are highly cuddly and are gentle and trustworthy with children. They also get along well with other pets, even cats. A Golden Retriever is a wonderful breed for working and makes a fantastic family pet.
Appearance
Golden Retrievers have a balanced, powerful body. They have dark brown eyes, a strong, straight muzzle, and drooping ears. Male Golden Retrievers can reach 56 to 61 cm (22 to 24 inches) at the shoulder. Females are 51 to 56 cm (20 to 22 inches) tall. Adult Retrievers weigh between 27 and 33 kg (60 and 71 pounds). Their coat is flat or wavy with a water-repellent undercoat. The coat color is gold or cream. They may have some white hairs on the front of the chest.
Other details
Goldens have a keen sense of smell and are highly adaptable. They have a loud bark but bark very infrequently. They need 40 to 60 minutes of intensive exercise daily. They are agile and obedient, making them ideal for dog training, dog sports, or other canine activities. They are generally very athletic and enjoy swimming. Retrievers enjoy being given specific tasks. They are used for drug detection, therapy, and assisting people with disabilities, among other things. They are also very talented at retrieving downed game for hunters. "Retriever" therefore means "collector" in Dutch.
A Golden Retriever sheds profusely, especially in the fall and spring. Brushing them daily will remove much of the loose hair from their coat. Golden Retrievers love to eat and can easily become overweight if overfed. Feed them measured portions at agreed-upon times to avoid health problems. This gentle golden family pet typically lives to be 12 to 13 years old.
