Shiba Inu
Character
The Shiba Inu is a rare, ancient Japanese breed. Its name means "little dog." This makes it the smallest of the Japanese hunting dogs. A Shiba Inu is naturally cheerful and curious. It has an alert, watchful nature. Generally, the Shiba Inu gets along well with other dogs and also gives a warm welcome to visitors. Shibas get along well with children. Their calm and thoughtful nature and balanced temperament make them attractive family dogs.
Appearance
The Shiba Inu's sweet face is instantly appealing. The crowning glory of its charming appearance is its beautiful coat. It has a dense undercoat. The outer coat is straight and hard and comes in a variety of colors: red, black, and white. Sesame is also popular. There are also red sesame, black sesame, and black and tan. The coat absorbs little dirt and therefore requires relatively little grooming. The shoulder height of this magnificent animal is 40 cm for males and 37 cm for females. On average, this little darling weighs between 7 and 12 kg.
Other details
During the shedding season, this dog loses a considerable amount of hair. Its independent nature requires a varied approach to training. Regularly interrupt exercises with some free play, and you'll have the Shiba Inu completely on board. These dogs typically live to be 12 or 13 years old, but they can also reach 16.
