Siberian husky
Character
The Siberian Husky is originally a sled dog by heritage. This energetic dog is incredibly devoted to its owner and family and clearly shows that love. A Siberian Husky is always in a good mood and has a high tolerance. Siberian Huskies are not watchful, but they remain assertive. They get along well with others. In fact, they are true pack animals. It is therefore recommended to keep several huskies together. However, it is best not to house them with chickens, rabbits, or cats. Despite their good nature, they still have a natural hunting instinct. The Siberian Husky is also independent and headstrong.
Appearance
The Siberian Husky's shoulder height is 53 to 60 cm for a male and 51 to 56 cm for a female. The average weight for a male is 20 to 27 kg and for a female 16 to 22 kg. Siberian Huskies have a double coat with a thick, fluffy undercoat. The outer coat is soft and smooth. This thick coat protects this beautiful breed even in temperatures as low as -75°C. Almost any combination of coat colors is possible. White, white with gray, black, or red are common colors in this breed. Sometimes these dogs have a mask on their coat or distinct markings. The eyes are brown or blue. Some huskies have blue-brown eyes. It's even occasionally seen that a Siberian Husky has one brown and one blue eye!
Other details
The Siberian Husky is naturally clean and free of body odor. However, you do need to brush them daily to remove excess loose hair and prevent tangles. Their strength and endurance make these breeds very popular in the Arctic. They are compact, strong dogs that love to work. This makes them not only excellent sled dogs, but also excellent racers who love to run. A Siberian Husky is best kept in a spacious home with a large, well-fenced yard. However, be sure to protect them from the heat when necessary. This dog gets bored easily, so it's best not to leave them alone too often. Because Siberian Huskies are intelligent and have a mind of their own, they benefit from dog training. They typically live 11 to 13 years.
