Yorkshire Terriers have been popular dogs for years because of their child-friendliness and their suitability as apartment dogs. This spirited, loving companion is incredibly devoted to its owner. It can even be possessive and jealous of a new pet. A Yorkie is playful and unafraid of larger dogs and can therefore sometimes be a bit overconfident in its confrontations with them. It is alert, but without barking constantly.
Appearance
A Yorkshire Terrier has an elegant appearance. Its endearingly compact size, combined with its typical terrier features, makes it a beloved breed. A Yorkie grows to a maximum height of 23 cm and usually weighs between 2.5 and 3.5 kg. Its long, soft coat is usually shades of gray or golden brown. As puppies, these dogs have more black hairs, but these lighten as they grow.

Yorkies are ideal for apartment living due to their size and the fact that they rarely cause noise pollution. They are easy to train as long as you are consistent. They do need some exercise, but because they are naturally active, short walks are often sufficient. It's important to protect these dogs from cold and hot temperatures and not to over-indulge them. Good eye, ear, and dental hygiene are also important for a Yorkshire Terrier. With proper care, this playful playmate can live 12 to 15 years.
